Patricia Laverley - African Development Bank Group Leader

An international finance professional, Patricia Laverley has worked in various roles for world humanitarian and financial organizations. In her current role, Patricia Laverley is the Head of Mission and Country Manager for the African Development Bank Group in Tanzania.

Patricia Laverley began her career as a computer programmer for EU Services in 1991. After EU Services, she worked with international organizations such as Amnesty International (1992) as a Regional Area Network Coordinator, the World Bank (1998) as a Program Coordinator, the International Monetary Fund (1997, 1998, 2006) as a consultant, the African Development Bank Group (2007) as a macroeconomist, and the Republic of Sierre Leone (2018) as Deputy Minister of Finance.

Today, Ms. Laverley manages the country’s $4 billion portfolio in her roles with the African Development Bank. She is a liaison between the government and the private sector, devising solutions to systemic issues related to managing the country’s portfolio. She also manages key relationships among government officials, central and local authorities, and businesspeople in the private sector. Her role also involves leading and coordinating initiatives culminating in the country’s sustainable, green, and inclusive platform, among other duties.

In addition to her work with the bank, Ms. Laverley holds memberships in the American Economic Association, the National Association of Public Administration, the International Development Evaluation Association, and Women in Technology. Other organizations she is a member of include the Amnesty International Network and the Institute for International Finance.
